MullenLowe Group Supports Singapore Red Cross for this Year’s Spikes Asia Posted on

Singapore, 4 September 2015: As a partner of this year’s Spikes Asia festival, MullenLowe Group is once again sponsoring the Spikes Asia tote bags. This year, they’ve added a twist to their bag design, and the network has opted to donate the ‘ad space’ to the Singapore Red Cross.

The tote bags will be given to each Spikes delegate at part of their festival welcome. Last year’s event attracted more than 1800 delegates.

Erick Rosa, ECD, Lowe Singapore, comments: “The MullenLowe Group-sponsored Spikes bags have become a tradition at the Festival, but this year we wanted to take the opportunity to offer  a bag that is bigger than just a ‘bag’. The Singapore Red Cross is a charity we have both supported and worked with as an agency. Spikes Asia is an event attended by some 2,000 of the region’s top opinion-makers, so who better to carry the message?”

In June 2015 MullenLowe Group launched ‘Can Your Lions’ at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The fundraising initiative encouraged agencies to donate the monetary value of their Lions statues to the World Food Program (WFP) and their hunger-relief efforts in earth-quake ravaged Nepal. Over $100,000 was donated this year, equating to more than 200,000 days of food.  In addition to MullenLowe Group, participating agencies such as Marcel and McCann also supported the cause.

Sharing a similar mission, the Singapore Red Cross provides local community services, and disaster relief across the region. They offer transport aid, food aid and training, mobilising and translating contributions from donors into relief and recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts. Recent work includes missions to aid and rehabilitate survivors of typhoon Haiyan, and distribution of medicine, food, clean water and other vital supplies to areas affected by the Myanmar flooding.
