Pasarmullen shows off skills and crafts for charity Posted on

Last month the MullenLowe Singapore team came together to run a charity makers’ market Pasarmullen, for the second consecutive year. Our efforts raised more than $1,500 for The Right to Live, a dog shelter caring for abandoned, abused and stray dogs. This will cover the cost of taking care of at least 10 dogs for a month.

20 of our people shared their homemade and handcrafted goods or skills with the rest of the office. Delicious food for sale included cookies, agar agar, and our CFO Acin’s chili, which was back by popular demand and available only through pre-order.

Our Head of Digital Production Jose showed off his crafting skills selling pet scarves and bandanas, while Strategy Director Shiqi and Junior Art Director Kinlin offered an agony aunt service for people to pour their hearts out and seek advice.

Strategy Director, Simran Gill said, “The amount we raised for The Right to Live seemed so little, but founder Rodney was over the moon when we shared the news. Every month Rodney and his wife Maria spend $18,000 to run the shelter. They receive no government support and currently only have two monthly sponsors, so we were grateful to get the opportunity to help a shelter doing such meaningful work.

“Despite being self-funded, Rodney and Maria provide the dogs with premium-grade food and hire full-time staff to ensure the dogs are well taken care of. They keep going even if nobody donates or sponsors their dogs. They keep going through infections and medical emergencies. The Right To Live personifies heart and soul.”

The Right to Live is a non-profit animal shelter for abandoned, abused and stray dogs founded in 2014 by couple Rodney and Maria which today houses over 50 rescued dogs. The organization is completely self-funded.
